Background

I entered healthcare as a Kinesiologist in 2009 in occupational rehab programs. I loved helping people with exercise. We worked hard as clinicians and our patients did too. But we still saw recurrent injuries, injuries sustained in the rehab process, and some people went back to work in pain. I wanted to become a physiotherapist so I could understand all of this.

I went back to school and became a Physiotherapist in 2014. By the end of 2015, I wanted a career change. I was burnt out seeing 3 patients an hour and I saw the revolving door we created. Bandaid on the patient's symptom, then booked them in again to put a new bandaid on. This was not the quality of care I wanted to provide.

Committed to providing better care

I decided to give physiotherapy all I had for another year before calling it quits. As luck would have it, I got a job working for a physiotherapist who was known for creating a whole-body approach that forms the backbone of my practice to this day. I basked in the knowledge her and her team generously offered me. I was empowered to question the status quo of physiotherapy practice and I was surrounded by people who were committed to providing better care.

My career then became something that gave me joy and connection to the community. I eventually arrived in a place where I was mentoring, consulting for, and developing educational materials for other physiotherapists.

Comprehensive & compassionate physiotherapy

After years of working in busy clinics on the mainland, my family wanted a change of pace. We moved to Nanaimo in 2023 and I started my solo practice here soon after. Much of my time is spent being the at-home parent, so on the days when I work, I have a renewed sense of gratitude for the opportunity to help people with their bodies.
